One of my earliest memories is a ship passage from America to the Philippines at age four with my family of seven. I grew up in a foreign land that became more home than America would ever be.
My young life was filled with music, directed by parents who raised five children to sing together. It often felt as if I lived inside a movie musical where my family would burst into song at any time or place. I lived a magical childhood.
My adult life has taken me around the world for fun and work, and has nearly always included photography in some way. I’ve worked in Los Angeles as a location manager for commercials and film, in Bosnia doing humanitarian work, in Saudi Arabia as a high school teacher, in Congo as a communications officer for a national park, and in Kenya as the roving journalist for Mission Aviation Fellowship International (MAFI), traveling to the various countries where MAF works.
As to why I write and love photography, it’s all about storytelling and giving my audience a glimpse into the lives of individuals who otherwise would stay in the dark. Everyone has a story and I long to share those stories through photos and writing.
